Or, even more mysterious, is why both parties are extermely adverse to being photographed themselves.
I think "embroiled in the local conflict" sums up the RP posibilities nicely.

Reject Universe #64 Years and years ago, RU64 was a bustling world. But then an inventor realized how he could remake the world. He built an infinite hotel, in which there was only one way- in. He lured the entire race into his grand opening. In anger, Insert destroyed the remaining, empty universe. But the infinite hotel still survived. Man survives, moving from room to room. But life has evolved, over the years since. Wildlife A ferocious fungi creates dots all over the floors, which look like the patterns on the floors. Stepping on one of these dots results in the explosion of the fungi, followed by your digestion. A beast lurking in the room telivisons that looks something like a bear on a spring, that springs out in the middle of watching something, is also quite dangerous. Society Society is nomadic, using up the resources layed out in each room. They leave behind empty rooms and traverse the infinite floors. Sometimes, tribes split off, some going sideways and some continuing up, and these tribes later split. Rejecting the Rejects:Reject Universe #65

Has anyone tried to break through the windows or is there a barrier of some sort?

Through the windows is a void. Thus, anyone who does so is sucked out and dies. I'll admit that this next one was slightly inspired by the book "Unlundun". Reject Universe #65 RU65 consists of infinite spiders. Each spider has a window for a body and fairly oversized legs. What are the spiders in? Each other. Inside each window is a miniuniverse ranging from a cubic meter to the size of a house. The spiders constantly crawl in and out of one another and make quite a maze. Some spider's worlds are different from other's, some dangerous and some not. When something dies inside a spider, the spider digests it. Humans crawl from spider to spider, making homes. Society Technology is fairly primitive, bows and arrows being the latest invention. Clothes have never been invented as people were too busy avoiding being killed to make them. Oddly enough, I concidred checking that book out today... Are you stalking me? <.< >.> j/k. Honestly though, if the infinite spiders aren't enough to unnerve and confuse our characters, we've got naked people too. I see some chaotic mad scramble from spider to spider to find where their original portal was.

Reject Universe #66 RU66 is like many others, infinite and flat. But, it grows. Up. Every year, the ground has risen about a meter, as if water. It grows around things-rocks are soon buried under years of dirt. Over time buildings must have new floors built as the old ones are consumed by the very land. Humans move, so they are not surrounded-unless they fall into a coma, the worst thing that can happen to you. Some holes in the landscape do not grow. To protect people, well-like structures are built around them to warn people to avoid falling into them, falling through the centuries, the millineums... Wildlife The Timeworm is a successful species of worm that lives underground. They occasionally come to the surface and drag animals down to rot and be eaten. It is about the size of a small dog. The Smanben is an enormous predator. It must lay its eggs onto its back, to avoid them being covered in dirt. Society Society is much centered around the philosophical ideas that life is work and nothing is permanent. Some technology has developed, some has not-medicine is just as primitive as ever, hospitals being a rarity and the doctors typically being only witch doctors. Some electronics have been invented, however, and electronic lighting and even (black and white) televisions are common sights. Soon, soon:Reject Universe #67

Hmm... If you made a portal, would it stay on top of the ground, or eventually get covered up by dirt?
Similarly, are the floors of the buildings connected, like a monsterous underground parking garage?

Eventually get covered in dirt. No, they aren't connected. The only way to get from one to another is to go to the top where they come out of the ground. And I'm holding the next RU ransom. I will not put it out until I get at least one entry in the contest.

Yeah, but I don't have a pen tablet. It'll be crap, even in photoshop.

Okay, I'm officially changing the rules. You may write an advertising blurb, but it shall be far less likely to win than if it does, in fact, have pictures.

Reject universe 1
After the initial "wierded out by the hippity-hops" period, I suspect some sort of diplomacy/first contact with the primitives plot will develop. There might be some issue of the morals of giving out technology.
Reject universe 2
Another creep-out universe, though if we go in order in the RP, this will probably be one of the last big shock universes, since you can get used to anything with enough time. Our male crew members are in danger here, though I wonder what the RU2'ers will make of them...
Reject universe 3
Weightlessness and bars will put a new spin on things, limiting movement for the less dexterous of the characters. Primitive RU3'ers will be fun for a while, but the main challenges come from the environment.
Reject universe 4
The big question here is how the characters will interact with the environment and the "ideas". They might just end up starting this universe back on to the road to enlightment, depending on how deeply they can interface with the universe.
Reject universe 5
The infinite tunnel... this might be interesting if a war broke out. Our moral crew members will probably try to evacuate civilians, though most likely with little sucess.
