The Elin belt is just your common Asteroid belt at first glance, why is there a subject about it? Well, the Elin belt has something rather unique. The amount of debris in this belt is so thick it has a rather primitive form of gravity, and it is close enough to have an ocean, No bottom, no top. Just water and rocks floating around in a ring.
And what makes this so special? Well, it allows possibly the oddest forms of life to Exist...
Flora:
1) Optical Osmosis Spheres. (Oos)
Oos are the first forms of life you could encounter, Feeding off minerals in the sea and sunlight, guided by a small tail. The low gravity allows these creatures to fly out the ring like ocean to evade herbivores. They live for about 5 years and absorb blue light.
2) Poisonous Magnetic Algae. (Pima)
Pima is the most common species of plant, clinging to rocks, absorbing metals like Iron and Mercury. It isn't eaten as much as the other flora, but some animals do eat it. They are known to creates large caves in the rocks, and Some species have transformed into Symbiotes for other animals.
3) Photosynthesising Pillar Colonies (Phopica)
When Pima erode through a meteor, who interferes? The Phopica, of course! Transported as small strands of violet plant matter, this fauna quickly expands, pressing on opposite sides of the newly formed cave. This is not only to protect against herbivores and the occasional small comet. this is, however, mainly to serve as an anchor for the plant.
4) Solar Osmisis Algae (Solosal)
These creatures grow on sunstares, feeding on sweat and sunlight. They are eaten by the sunstares for food.
Fauna:
1) Centipreds.
Centipreds are ambush predators, waiting for prey to come near their lair, and pouncing with it's six sided jaw and prehensile tongue. They also defend Pima filled caves in order to lure prey towards them. (They look like centipedes with three rows of legs.)
2) Phopic suckers.
Name says it all. They suck the moisture from Phopica and nuitrients, causing damage to caves. they are small, and eaten by the Centipreds.
3)Sunstares.
Sunstares are triad like creatures, resembling coral. They are triangular in shape, and constantly face the sun to eat the Solosal growing on their face. They look like radar dishes with a tenticle and beak in the middle.
4) Slicers.
scicers have metal claws on their hands, and 3 fingers on their 3 limbs. they are the size of a large dog, and eat through their hands, after slicing flesh off prey. They eat Phopic suckers and sunstares.
